While citizens in other countries are fighting for the right to democracy, Canadians have become complacent and apathetic towards voting.

The voter turnout in the 2008 election was the lowest percentage of registered voters ever recorded for a national election in Canada, at 58.8%.

Sadly the 2011 election wasn't much better, only a 61.1% voter turnout which was only 2.3% higher than 2008.
